MENTAL HEALTH PILOTS ROLL OUT COMPLETED
Plymouth and Edinburgh make it six for the two-year pilots based at NHS Trusts
The
Community Veterans Mental Health
pilots are designed to give veterans access to clinicians with
expertise in veterans’ mental health
who will conduct assessment and help them obtain suitable treatment.
It is hoped social support networks will also be developed around
the pilots. These would address employment, housing, debt, skills
training, mobility, social interaction, leisure and relationships.
The pilots cover a cross-section of the UK that will test the model
in a range of social and geographical situations with the findings
published in early 2011. Veterans can request a referral to the
pilot via their GP.
If there’s no pilot
in your local area If assessed as having Post Traumatic Stress Disorder or a related health matter, they will be offered outpatient treatment by DMS, which has 15 departments based across the UK. If the condition is particularly complex or acute and requires in-patient care, DMS will assist with accessing NHS treatment. 14:00
