Servicemen can re-visit battle sites

The Big Lottery Fund’s Heroes Return II programme provides funding to World War II veterans or their widows, along with spouses and a carer, for costs to visit.
More than 10,000 people have been awarded funding but the programme’s due to close on December 31.
Veterans that have already taken the trip but were unaware of the programme have until January 31, 2011 to apply for retrospective funding.
