Poppies in fashion at Royal Scots Club
Top Edinburgh retail stores House of Fraser and Jenners are joining forces with the capital's Royal Scots Club to back this year's Scottish poppy appeal.
Proceeds from a fashion show and dinner at the Club on Wednesday 9 November will go to Poppyscotland, the leading charity supporting ex-Servicemen and women in Scotland. Best known for running the iconic Scottish Poppy Appeal which raises more than £2 million annually, Poppyscotland works all year round to help veterans and their families.
Founded as a War Memorial Club in memory of the more than 11,000 Royal Scots who lost their lives in the First World War, the Royal Scots Club offers overnight accommodation, dining facilities, conference and business meeting rooms, and a unique setting for special events. It operates an open membership and welcomes applications from businesses, professionals and individuals.
"We're delighted to offer the Club's facilities for such a worthy cause and splendid occasion just a few days before Remembrance Sunday," General Manager Adrian Hayes said.
Tickets (£30) including a welcome glass of fizz, the fashion show and a two course dinner with wine are available from the Club by calling (0131) 556 4270
