1st Mallard March Invitation
On October the 30th 2010, a walking tour will be organised in remembrance of the liberation of Zuid-Beveland. The tour will be suitable for all age groups. The younger participants ( below 12 years of age) will be driving to the Sloedam in WWII vehicles and will walk a route of 6.3 Km ( 3.91 mi ) back to the Start/Finish point. For the organisation of the number of vehicles participants are asked to please register in time.
Both experienced walkers and beginners, young and old, will experience that Zeeland has more to offer than beach alone. In the morning a solemn commemoration will be held at the Monument at the Sloedam, where several wreaths will be placed.
We sincerely hope each participant will experience the historical setting in which this walking tour takes place. For this purpose the map of the tour will point out several places that can still be recognised from the war years.
Starting times
Route 1: 6.3 Km / 3.91 mi vehicles will depart at 10:00 hours only.
Route 2: 12.6 Km / 7,83 mi from 09:00 hours
Route 3: 30 Km / 18,64 mi from 08:00 hours
Registration
The registration desk closes at 17:00. For the 30 Km route registration is open till 10:00. The contribution for this event will be € 3, 50. At arrival you will be receiving a special remembrance item, for which we ask you to have returned from your walk at 17:00.
