Jim Jeffries encourages Heart of Midlothian FC supporters to ‘Zip It’ in aid of veterans
Heart of Midlothian FC manager Jim Jeffries is encouraging Tynecastle supporters to ‘Zip It’ by signing up to the Erskine Zip Slide.
The veterans’ charity Erskine still has places available for fundraisers to take part in its inaugural Erskine Zip Slide at Tynecastle Stadium on Saturday 26th March.
From 80ft in the Roseburn Stand participants will propel their way across the stadium’s famous Gorgie pitch, before landing at the touchline in front of the away stand. This hair-raising event aims to raise vital funds for the charity, which runs five care homes across Scotland , including the Erskine Edinburgh Home in Gilmerton.
Mr Jeffries is calling on Heart of Midlothian FC supporters to put their weight behind their charity partners for one Saturday of the season by signing up for this heart-racing challenge.
Mr Jeffries, Heart of Midlothian FC manager, said: “The Erskine Zip Slide is a great way for Hearts supporters to lend their support to Scotland ’s veterans and serving personnel for one Saturday of the football season. For many years, the men and women of our Armed Forces have sacrificed so much for our country and, by choosing to zip it down the Erskine Zip slide, our supporters would be raising vital funds towards the care that these men and women so richly deserve. Given our proud and strong links with the Armed Forces, I would encourage all our supporters to sign up to this brilliant challenge and prove that they are daredevils at heart."
On the day, Erskine’s Young Ambassador Katharine Brown will also be taking part alongside 150 fundraisers in the challenge event, which is being overseen by facilitators Freespirits Outdoor Activities and Action Scaffolding.
If the Erskine Zip Slide sounds like your kind of challenge, places are still available. Participants must be aged over 16 years old. Registration costs £20, with a target of raising £100.
Alternatively, log on to www.erskine.org.uk to download registration forms or contact Erskine’s Fundraising Department on 0141 814 4555 or email fundraising@erskine.org.uk.
