Erskine appoints new Chief Executive
The veterans' charity Erskine is delighted to announce the appointment of Steve Conway to the position of Chief Executive. Steve will be joining from the NHS National Services Scotland where he is currently Director of Strategy and Support.
Steve was commissioned in the Royal Marines in 1976. During a varied career which spanned 26 years he held several key leadership and management appointments including; Signals Officer for the Special Boat Service, Adjutant of the Commando Training Centre, Director of Land and Amphibious Operations in Allied Forces Northwestern Europe a NATO Headquarters, and a secondment to the Royal Navy to develop and implement the first Equal Opportunities policy for the Royal Navy and Royal Marines. His final appointment in the Royal Marines was Commanding Officer of Royal Marines Reserve Scotland.
On leaving the Royal Marines in 2002, Steve joined NHS Scotland as the National Emergency Planning Officer responsible for contingency planning to enable the NHS to respond to events such as terrorist incidents, pandemic influenza and the reception of military casualties by NHS hospitals. In April 2004 Steve was appointed as Chief Executive of NHS Orkney where one of key achievements was to complete and implement a major service redesign programme. He took up his current position as the Director of Strategy and Support for NHS National Services Scotland in February 2007 where he has introduced new outcomes based planning and performance management processes, and led a number of key initiatives
Discussions are currently underway regarding his start date, but Steve hopes to join the Erskine team before the end of the calendar year.

And continued: "His experience of working across Scottish communities and operating at a strategic level at the highest points of interface with Scottish Government will benefit our charity immensely."
