Concert for Heroes set to raise vital funds for care of Scotland ’s veterans
Music is set to fill the ears of the Elgin community when the inaugural Concert for Heroes is held next month in aid of the veterans’ charity Erskine.
A group of musicians are hosting an evening of music and entertainment to raise vital funds for the care of veterans and serving personnel across Scotland .
The Concert for Heroes evening will begin at 7pm on Sunday 20th March at St Giles Church in Elgin with a series of popular musical groups from across the area set to take part. The line up includes The Moray Music Centre Senior String Orchestra, The Moray Saxophone Quartet, The Moray Swing Band and The Elgin City Band conducted by Bob Garrity.
A specially-composed piece called ‘A March for Heroes’ will also be performed on the night to those attending.
Bob Garrity, organiser and conductor of Elgin City Band, said: “We are delighted to be organising the Concert for Heroes in aid of the veterans’ charity Erskine. All the groups are extremely enthusiastic about taking part in this inaugural event and we are asking for the support of the local Elgin community to help raise a fantastic amount for such a deserving cause.”
Catherine Cowie, Erskine fundraiser, added: “We are overjoyed that the inaugural Concert for Heroes will take place in Elgin next month with the support of so many prestigious musical groups from the area. This is a fantastic way in which raise money which will help Erskine care for veterans and serving personnel across Scotland . I would encourage supporters of our charity to come along and enjoy a fantastic evening of musical entertainment.”
Erskine cares for 1,400 veterans at five homes across Scotland each year as well as providing job opportunities for ex-Service men and women within its Social Firms which includes the Erskine Garden Centre & Vanishing Willows Cafe, Erskine Print and Erskine Furniture.

Entry to the Concert for Heroes is free, however donations of £5 or more will be kindly accepted on the door.
