BFBS AND CELEBRITIES, INCLUDING DAVID BECKHAM AND KEITH LEMON, GET TOGETHER TO HELP MILITARY CHARITIES!

British Forces Broadcasting Service are auctioning goodies on Ebay to support five military charities.

The Big Salute, which will be broadcast throughout the day from the BFBS studios in Buckinghamshire on the 14.10.11, will be auctioning off around 113 lots, using Ebay, BFBS’ website and their dedicated Twitter feed.

The public and military audiences will be in with a chance to own can’t buy items such as a signed football from David Beckham, a personal Badminton lesson with Olympic Silver Medallist, Gail Emms and a guitar signed by the rock gods, Status Quo.

Also up for grabs is a chance to meet Keith Lemon behind the scenes at Celebrity Juice and a once-in-a-lifetime Tandem Parachute Jump with the RAF Falcons.

BFBS are unsurprisingly proud of the yearly event that benefits five forces charities:

· Blesma - Supports all our servicemen and women who have lost their sight or the use of their limbs.

· St Dunstan’s - Lifelong support for blind and visually impaired ex-servicemen and women.

· Combat Stress - Provides treatment and support for ex-servicemen and women with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), depression and anxiety disorders.

· Veteran’s Aid - Gives practical help such as housing or financial assistance as well as advice and advocacy to services veterans.

· FAB - Activity camps give bereaved families a welcome break to meet and socialise with others who have experienced a similar loss.

Nicky Ness, Controller of BFBS radio says “BFBS teams around the world have a track record of raising money for charity, with a very supportive audience who get behind this annual initiative with great enthusiasm. As well as raising money, this is also about raising the profile of the charities we have chosen to support under the Big Salute umbrella, and of course we want to make some fun radio as well. This is a great chance for our audience on DAB, Sky 0211 and Freesat 786 in the UK to support us, as well as our overseas forces communities. We’re proud to say that every single penny we raise goes directly to the charities – that’s very important to us.
