BAE DONATE TO ERSKINE

Veteran WAAF Irene Adam (89), was more than delighted to receive a cheque on behalf of the veterans’ charity Erskine from BAE Systems Graduate Engineer Callum Vause. Erskine, who care for after 1400 ex-Service men and woman every year, is the chosen charity of the year for BAE Systems.

The donation of £964 was raised during The Schools Engineering Challenge organised and run by BAE for first and second year pupils from 12 Glasgow schools. The task of designing and building model ships over an 8 week period was to encourage local schools pupils to get involved with engineering and technology and show them the types of opportunities which exist in the industry.

The generous sum of money was raised from an internal sweepstake for BAE Systems employees to guess the winning time in the race which tested all the ships produced.

Lesley Miller Erskine’s Deputy Head of Fundraising said: “We are delighted to receive this wonderful donation, every penny of which goes towards ensuring we can continue to provide first class care to our veterans both young and old throughout Scotland . We would like to congratulate all the schools who took part and especially the winners, St Reoch’s Secondary School.”
