ARMSTRONG AND MILLER HELP BFBS RADIO LAUNCH NEW WEBSITE
BAFTA award-winning comedians Armstrong and Miller have shown their support for BFBS and the armed forces by filming exclusive content for BFBS Radio to launch their new website that goes live today (5th September 2011).
The duo has reprised one of their most popular sketches, the World War II RAF pilots. The video, which can be found on BFBS’ Facebook page, sees the pair promote the new BFBS website in the anachronistic youth-speak that has made them famous. See the clip at www.facebook.com/BFBSRadio
BFBS Radio also celebrates its website makeover with an on-air and online mystery voice competition, Who Are Ya? BFBS Radio and BFBS Radio 2, which broadcast for the British Armed Forces and their families around the world, are asking listeners to identify 7 celebrity voices between 5th and 11th September, 2011.
A short clip of a mystery voice will be transmitted every day, and a longer clip and a clue can be found on www.bfbs.com/radio, the online home of BFBS Radio. Correctly identifying the voice each day earns entrants of the ‘Who Are Ya?’ competition a chance to win an iPad 2.
BFBS Gurkha Radio – which broadcasts in Nepali and English - is also running a mystery voice competition, ‘Tapainko Parichaya?’ (Your Introduction Please) with an iPad 2 for the winner.
The new website, www.bfbs.com/radio, gives listeners the latest news from the three main radio services and the 11 local radio stations, including BFBS Afghanistan. Visitors to the site can listen live to the UK DAB schedule, BFBS Radio 2, BFBS Gurkha and programming from BFBS Germany, BFBS Northern Ireland and BFBS Falkland Islands.
Other features include the online Messages & Requests service, which helps families and friends to stay in touch with loved ones stationed overseas; Listen Again, an on-demand service where most BFBS programmes can be heard; an interactive Events Calendar for each radio station; and Forces Life - welfare resources for Servicemen and service families.
BFBS Radio is on DAB Digital in the UK , on FM across the Forces world, on
Sky Guide 0211, Freesat 786 and online at www.bfbs.com
