MOD TARGETS ‘DISABILITY EMPLOYMENT ADVISERS’ IN DRIVE TO IMPROVE AWARENESS OF VETERANS SUPPORT
The MOD’s Service Personnel and Veterans Agency (SPVA) has today launched a campaign to raise awareness of its services to veterans amongst Disability Employment Advisers (DEAs).
DEA’s work for the Dept for Work and Pensions and help people with disabilities find training and employment opportunities. An average of 1 in 12 people within the UK are veterans so professional advisers, such as DEAs, will come across veterans daily. By being aware of the wide package of help and support available to those who have served in the forces, DEAs will be better placed to advise their clients.
Help for veterans from SPVA is provided via the free Veterans-UK helpline 0800 169 2277, website www.veterans-uk.info and one to one via the Agency’s veterans welfare service from its 25 offices across the UK and Ireland. The Agency also operates the Government’s compensation schemes for those injured or bereaved through Service.

Manager said:
People don’t realise that anyone who has served in the Armed
Forces is a veteran, whether young or old, male or female. There’s
a vast amount of specialist help and support available to them and this
campaign aims to improve awareness amongst DEAs, key advisers to those
of working age with disabilities.
