Give
us a call Whatever your enquiry, whether it be accessing service records, finding out about entitlement to a War Pension, the Armed Forces Compensation Scheme, health or financial concerns or any other issue, the Agency is here to help. If we can’t help on the spot, we are positioned at the heart of a wide network of support, dedicated to helping ex-Servicemen and women and their families. By working in close partnership with ex-Service organisations, War Pensions Committees and other voluntary groups and statutory bodies, we can point you in the right direction for sound practical assistance. To access the wealth of support on offer simply call the Veterans-UK Helpline on 0800 169 2277
Emma Hendry, Veterans-UK Helpline Manager explains,
“In a typical week, our Helpline deals with up to 4,500 calls. Enquiries range from War Pensions and Veterans Badge applications, to signposting veterans to where they can receive further support from other organisations.
“It’s a good idea to have your National Insurance number and service details to hand when making the call. We can also give you an update on the progress of a claim.
“If you’re ringing on behalf of someone else, we can take calls from a third party but do need written or verbal authorisation from the veteran. If that person is present during the call, this can be done quickly over the phone and authorisation can be confirmed.”
Write
to us You can also write to our Veterans Advice Team for information. In a month they receive over 800 enquiries, covering service records and documents, tracing relatives, Service Pension enquiries, information on medals and much more.
Being the first point of contact for service organisations is an important role for the team when dealing with homeless veterans. The team will investigate and confirm the veteran’s service history so further immediate help can be provided by the relevant organisations, to secure either accommodation or any other help the veteran needs.
