Where were you in 1956?
Did you know that in 1956, the French Prime minister made an offer of a union between France and the UK? Just think we could have been ordering ‘fish and French fries’ at the chippy?

BBC radio 4's Document programme is looking to interview veterans both male and female with some experience of fighting alongside the French (be it in the resistance or the regular army) who would be interested in talking about how their experiences in war affected their attitudes to French people and France.

The programme is about the offer of Union between France and the UK made by the French Prime minister, Guy Mollet, in 1956 and we are interested in finding out the extent to which people at the time would have considered it a good idea.

If there are any French veterans living in the UK we would be extremely keen to hear their opinions on Mollet's offer.

My phone number is below if you are interested in contacting me.

Kind regards
James
