commits to help veterans in prison through new research
The Prime Minister has announced that the Government will collect new reliable data on veterans in prison which will guide future support.
In response to a question posed by Elfyn Llwyd MP at Prime Minister’s Questions on 22 October 2008, the PM stated that
“The MOD’s Prison in-Reach initiative gives veterans in prison access to a range of support services. We are working together with the Secretary of State for Defence and the Secretary of State for Justice on the issue to get up-to-date, authoritative data and a survey. We will then see what we can do to help people who have helped and served our country; it is our duty to assist them when they are civilians.”
