CIPFA/PricewaterhouseCoopers Public
Reporting and Accountability Awards 2005
Veterans Agency is once again winner of the CIPFA/PricewaterhouseCoopers Public
Reporting and Accountability Awards 2005 for National Organisations with an annual
turnover of less than £50m..
"More than once judges emphasised the clarity of the Veterans Agency documents and website - not always associated with civil service enterprises. Another atypical characteristic of the Agency was its desire for feedback and evaluation by stakeholders. Its recent initiatives aim to improve communication by publicising the assistance offered to veterans by central, devolved and local government, and by giving veterans' organisations the opportunity to represent their collective and individual concerns to government at ministerial level".
The Awards seek to recognise and promote best practice in public reporting and accountability arrangements across the public services. The emphasis is on how organisations:
- account for the whole of their activities to the public
- get across what they are there for and what value they bring to the community
- provide information in a format and style that encourages real public interest in their work
